One of the first Killers to ever arrive in the Fog, Dead by Daylight’s Wraith is a fast-moving, nearly silent ghost that can stalk Survivors while remaining Undetectable. With such high movement speed, he can cut off Survivors’ only means of escape before going in for the kill. With the right selection of perks, this Killer can be a formidable foe.

This guide will highlight some of the best builds to run with The Wraith in Dead by Daylight, with perks featured both in the base game and in the variety of DLC Killers, for players with varying levels of experience.

The Wraith: Best Non-Teachable Build (2023)

For players with only access to the base game, Wraith’s own perks are some of the most niche and ineffective in Dead by Daylight. As such, it’s much better to use General Perks like Sloppy Butcher to slow down the mid-game, Bitter Murmur and Spies from the Shadows to help find Survivors, and Hex: No One Escapes Death to potentially secure kills in the Endgame Collapse.

• Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Each time a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of that generator are revealed for 5 seconds. Once the last generator is complete, all Survivors’ auras are revealed for 10 seconds.
• Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment, and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
• Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Basic attacks cause the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments for 90 seconds, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.
• Spies From the Shadows (General Perk) – When within 36 meters of a crow startled by a Survivor, you gain a loud noise notification.

The Wraith: Best Build (2024)

As a Killer with little chase potential outside of his uncloak speed boost, arguably the most effective build for The Wraith includes a number of generator slowdown perks as well as something to help find Survivors. This build features The Plague's Corrupt Intervention to prevent early game progress, as well as Grim Embrace and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance to slow them down throughout the mid-game. Meanwhile, Discordance can keep track of generators that are being repaired by multiple Survivors.

• Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
• Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.
• Grim Embrace (The Artist) – Each time The Killer hooks a new Survivor, all generators are blocked for 12 seconds after moving 16 meters away from the hook. After hooking each Survivor once, all generators are blocked for 40 seconds and the Obsession's aura is revealed for six seconds.
• Bamboozle (The Clown) – Vault speed is increased by 15% and performing a vault will block the window for 16 seconds.

The Wraith: Best Add-Ons

“The Ghost” – Soot

While none of The Wraith’s Common Add-Ons are particularly effective, “The Ghost” is probably the best. Useful for enhancing The Wraith’s scary stealth powers, this add-on hides your Red Stain and Terror Radius for 6 seconds after uncloaking.

Bone Clapper

Pairing well with “The Ghost,” the Bone Clapper sounds The Wraith’s uncloaking noise across the whole map, disorientating Survivors and leaving them unsure about your exact location.

“Windstorm” – Mud

For the speedsters, “Windstorm” increases how fast you can move while cloaked, allowing you to cross great distances and body-block resources with greater efficiency.

“Swift Hunt” – Mud

To start chases slightly faster, “Swift Hunt” increases uncloaking speeds by 8%.

“Windstorm” – White

An upgraded version of “Windstorm” – Mud, this Rare Add-On increases cloaked movement speed by 7%.

“Swift Hunt” – White

Like its Uncommon variant, “Swift Hunt” – White increases uncloaking speed by 10%.

“Shadow Dance” – White

Like The Trapper’s unique perk, Brutal Strength, The Wraith’s “Shadow Dance” Add-On increases the speed of vaulting and break actions by 40%. Often used with perks like Bambooze, this Add-On can create an almost instant-vault/instant-break build, so long as you can manage your cloaking and uncloaking correctly.

“Windstorm” – Blood

The final evolution of the "Windstorm" Add-Ons, this Very Rare variant increases cloaked movement speed by 9%.

“Swift Hunt” – Blood

Like the others, “Swift Hunt” – Blood increases uncloaking speeds – this time by 12%.

“Shadow Dance” – Blood

Regularly used in conjunction with its Rare counterpart, “Shadow Dance” – Blood increases vaulting and break speeds by 60% while cloaked.

“All Seeing” – Blood

To find nearby Survivors or predict their movements in loops, the “All Seeing” – Blood Add-On allows you to see auras of Survivors within 8 meters while cloaked.

Coxcombed Clapper

An upgraded Bone Clapper, the Coxcombed Clapper makes the Wailing Bell completely silent. This works well with “The Ghost” – Soot to improve The Wraith’s surprise attacks.

“All Seeing” – Spirit

Substituting an aura reading or information perk, “All Seeing” – Spirit reveals the progress of generators while cloaked.
