Disbursem*nt / Payment of Your Financial Aid

Applying Aid Toward Your Tuition and Fees Bill
Most aid (other than work-study)actually awarded before your bill is due can be applied toward your billif you are eligible based on your registration status. Although aid appliedto the bill does not represent an actual payment, the College will usuallyaccept that aid as a voucher pending payment of that aid. You will owe later if the anticipated funds are not receivedby the College. Follow Bursar's Office bill payment instructions and deadlines carefully.

If the aid you expect does not appearon your bill, contact your financial aid counselor before the due dateand before paying anything yourself to see if anything can be applied.

Program adjustments and other changesin your registration status can change your eligibility for aid appliedto your bill, aidalready received, and aid for the future. Check first with your financial aid counselor if you wantto be sure about the implications of a change you are considering.

If you decide to cancel your registrationfor any reason, be sure to do it officially by following the deadlines and instructionsin the Schedule of Classes.

Any aid balance after your tuitionbill and other obligations to the College have been paid will be distributedto you to assist you in meeting other educational expenses.

Eligibility and Eligibility Changes

Awards are initially madebased on financial need. Students must be accepted and enrolled at aneligible status in order to receive their awards.

In addition, as you add and drop courses, withdraw from courses, stop attending or otherwise change your status, your aid may change based on changes in your eligibility. BECAREFUL! If you are not sure if your changes will affect youraid, see a financial aid counselor for more information. This canaffect what is applied to your bill and other obligations, what you mayhave to repay immediately, as well as eligibility for the future.

If you have any questions about your eligibility for aid, talk with a financial aid counselor so you will know how to plan.

Aid Remaining *After* Your Tuition and Fees Bill
Because of thelow tuition and fees at Queens College, many students have aid remainingafter paymentof the tuition and fees bill to assist them with related educationalexpenses.

Tip for students receiving TAP:Apply early so your TAP estimate can be applied toward yourbill. Due to the timing of the receipt of TAP payments fromNYS, refunds based on TAP payments can take time.

Any Pell grant,SEOG, Direct Loan, Perkins Loan remaining after tuition and fees and otherliabilities to the College will be paid to you during the semester, and will be mailed to yourhome address on the University's Financial Aid file. DirectDeposit is available for most aid programs other than TAP; information andrequest / authorization forms are available in the Bursar's Office.

For Early Filers who meet all eligibility and other programs requirements early:
Pell checks are usually disbursed in mid-Novemberand mid-April. Perkins Loan checks are disbursed mid-to-late Novemberand mid-to-late April. SEOGawards are usually paid in mid-September and mid- February. SEEKbook money is paid at the start of the Fall and Spring semesters. Students approved for Direct Loans receive information from the Direct Loan Program about their check dates.

If you have not received your aid checks or have any questionsabout your payment, contact your financial aid counselor immediately. If you move, be sure to notify the Financial Aid Office and theRegistrar's Office immediately.
