A470 in Brecon still shut in both directions

A road remains closed following a crash near Storey Arms.

The crash happened at the junction of the A4059 and the A470 - near Beacons Reservoir.

The road has been closed from around 6pm.

Hundreds of people flocked to Barry Island to make the most of the sunshine this weekend.

Highs of around 23C saw people basking on the beach and taking a long awaited dip in the sea.

A crash has shut a main route in Brecon. The roads affected are:

A470 - Nantddu to Storey Arms

A4059 connecting to A470

The crash happened near the junction of the A470 and A4059.

Police have warned motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Police in valleys town given extra powers to stop youths as young as 10 causing anti-social behaviour

Police in a valleys town have been given extra powers to stop youths as young as 10 from causing anti-social behaviour this weekend.

The decision follows recent incidents in the area, including alleged underage drinking, which have caused concern for residents.

The dispersal order, which is granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, will apply to those aged 10 and over and is in place until 8pm on Sunday, May 19.

The M4 eastbound is partially blocked, with queueing traffic, due to a crash from J27 B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross) to J26 A4051 (Malpas Road).

Woman loses 164lbs in nine months

A 32 stone woman who was heavier than her bathroom scales could measure lost 11st 10lbs in just nine months after gastric bypass surgery. Anastasia Morris, 32, says she was a "chubby kid" growing up but her weight seriously rocketed in her late teens.

Anastasia would go out for food or get a takeaway six nights a week. She cycled through fad diets but would always gain any weight she lost back. Read more here.

21°C in parts of Wales this afternoon

That is according to Welsh weather presenter Derek Brockway, but it is not as warm as that everywhere.

He says: "Much of Wales basking in sunshine this afternoon but low cloud on the Cardigan Bay coast. 21°C in sunny Cardiff. 14°C in Aberporth with fog."

Police searching for missing man

Police are appealing for help to find a missing 24-year-old man.

Joshua Whiston, from Ely, Cardiff, was last seen on Friday night and is believed to be wearing orange work trousers, white sliders, and a t-shirt. He has tattoos of trees and a wolf on his arm. His grey Skoda car has been found in the Leckwith area.

Infected blood scandal has taken 'far too long' to resolve

Victims of the infected blood scandal have had to wait "far too long" for compensation, a Cabinet minister acknowledged ahead of Monday's long-awaited public inquiry report.

The worst treatment disaster in the history of the NHS saw tens of thousands of people infected with contaminated blood or blood products between the 1970s and early 1990s.

An estimated 3,000 people have died as a result, while those who survived have lived with life-long health implications, and compensation costs are expected to reach at least £10 billion.

MP fails to name Labour's six pledges

Shadow health secretary Wes Streeting admitted he is "never going to live this down" after failing to name Sir Keir Starmer's six pledges for a Labour government.

The shadow cabinet minister correctly identified five of the six "first steps" Sir Keir has set out for Labour in power.

But he was forced to refer to his pledge card to name the sixth promise on tackling anti-social behaviour.

Challenged to name the six steps on BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, he said: "Economic stability, cut NHS waiting lists, 6,500 extra teachers, secure border command, Great British Energy, and ... what's the one I've missed?

Brit wins big on National Lottery

A lucky Brit scooped a whopping £3.9m National Lottery jackpot in last night's draw.

The winning ticket-holder matched all six main numbers and netted the total sum of £3,967,428.

No players managed to match five numbers and the bonus ball to collect £1 million.

People ordered out of water at popular beach

People were ordered out of the water at one of Wales' best known beaches because of concerns about the "water quality".

Hundreds of families were enjoying the spell of warm weather on the beach at Barry Island when they were told to get out of the water yesterday.

More than 5,000 are taking part in the Cardiff Bay 10K.

Police at scene of A470 accident

Police are at the scene of a serious collision on the A470 Aberycynon to Pentrebach. Lane 1 is closed in a northbound direction.

South Wales Police say: "Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area."

Boy dies and another critical after water tragedy

A 14-year-old boy has died and a 13-year-old boy is in a critical condition after getting into difficulty in the River Tyne at Ovingham on Saturday, Northumbria Police said.

Police launched an extensive search operation after two teenage boys got into difficulty in the River Tyne in Northumberland, on Saturday.

Man, 21, charged with murder

A 21-year-old man from Newport has been charged with murder after a man died on Chepstow Road, Newport. The man, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, has now been charged with that offence.

Gwent Police said he had been remanded in custody to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 20. The family of Lee Crewe, 36, who died, have previously paid tribute to him, describing him as "lovely, inside and out".

Tyson Fury loses to Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury's quest to become undisputed world heavyweight champion ended in defeat by split decision to Oleksandr Usyk in an enthralling night in Riyadh.

Fury appeared to have taken control midway through the fight but Usyk came on strong and swung the contest in his favour with a powerful ninth round in which the Briton was saved by the bell. Read the round-up here.

Around 5,000 runners are taking part in the Cardiff Bay 10K.

Flash flooding in parts of Wales

Parts of Wales saw flash flooding yesterday after an area of low pressure brought heavy rain and thunderstorms.

There was flooding at a Pontypridd supermarket and a dog rescue charity made an appeal for help after heavy rain caused some damage. Read more here.
